History
Yale Gospel Choir (YGC) was founded as an undergraduate organization at Yale in 1973. It was formed under the guidance of Irene Jackson, a faculty member in the African-American and Music Departments, as an adjunct to the Black Church at Yale (BCAY). In 19xx, Yale Gospel Choir became an organization independent of BCAY. The Choir's purpose is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of song.
